If you cannot find an item in our food database, you can create a custom food item so you can easily log it in the future. You are required to at least provide a calorie number when creating a new food. If you don't know the exact calorie number, try you best guess.
From search list: If you searched for a food and couldn't find it, there will be a "Create new food" button towards the bottom of the search results. Follow the steps there to complete a new food item and log it.
From "My Foods" tab or Star icon ⭐: When trying to log a food item, there is a section called "My Foods" (for some users it might look like a star icon ⭐) at the top of the screen above the text search input area. Tap "My Foods" / ⭐ and then "Create new food". Follow the steps there to complete a new food item and log it.
Create new food item not found in the database:
As hard as we try, we know we do not have every food item in our database. If you searched for a food and didn't find it, you might be able to find a similar food item that you can log. Logging a similar food item is better than logging nothing.
Create new food items you can log easily next time:
If you have a food item you think we are missing and should add, you can use the "Create New Food" item function in the app to add it yourself. You can add restaurant foods, homemade foods and even scan a packaged bar code. Once you have created it, you can find it again in the My Foods tab in the food search section.
You can also email us (support@askendiet.com) and we will do our best to add it for you.
